The Month of Dreams
This is not only the month of dreams and the revealing of mysteries, but also a time of action on the new revelations we receive from God. It was in this month of Kislev that Nehemiah received the news of the terrible state of Jerusalem, and his bold action in telling the King of Persia his wishes to rebuild Zion (Nehemiah 1). However, it is also the month when Adonai spoke through Zechariah of His disappointment with Israel’s religiosity during the 70 years of exile in Persia, warning them not to repeat the sinful ways that had led them into exile in the first place (Zechariah 7). That will not be a mistake you make this month, and is instead your time of breakthrough, and a moment to stiffen your resolve in the plans of God for your life that are just ahead. It is time to enter through the gates of Kislev armed to the teeth with the perfect love and boldness of Adonai with His blueprint, wisdom, and revelation for such a time as this. Ready or not, Kislev has begun.
Kislev is referred to as the month of dreams because as we read the Parashah, (the allotted portion of Scripture) all of the dreams of Joseph are mentioned. Coincidentally, it is the darkest month in the natural of all the months when we sleep longer and dream more, but also the time as we, the lights of the world have opportunity to shine the brightest regardless of circumstance or situation for the glory of the Most High. This brings us to the life of Joseph and questions which bring us deeper into our own personal revelations this month. Beginning at Josephs’s sudden high point in life after years of slavery, he now becomes second in command of all of Egypt and marries the daughter of the priest of the sun god as a Hebrew. How is it that after so much agonizing hardship, Joseph did not allow this power, wealth, grace, and favor turn him away from YHWH to worship the gods of Egypt? How is it that instead that shortly after his promotion when seeing his brothers for the first time after selling him into slavery that he rejoiced and thanked God upon seeing them after not being able to hold back his emotions any longer?
“Yes, I am your brother Joseph, the one you sold into Egypt. Don’t worry or blame yourselves for what you did. God is the one who sent me ahead of you to save lives. There has already been a famine for two years, and for five more years no one will plow fields or harvest grain. But God sent me on ahead of you to keep your families alive and to save you in this wonderful way. After all, you weren’t really the ones who sent me here—it was God. He made me the highest official in the king’s court and placed me over all Egypt.” (Genesis 45:4-8).
Godly perspective brought Joseph to the point of forgiveness and perseverance in his faith even after so many rewards bestowed upon him. Through Joseph’s response, we see true heavenly revelation put into action and see for ourselves how not take offense even with our own families who have done us wrong in the past and are careful not to be blinded by anger and hatred in order to see clearly the hand of God that has brought us to the place we are now and for what purpose. Now is the month to forgive, to see the things God has allowed to happen to bring us to where we are, especially through our plights which have brought about greater wisdom, patience, understanding, and knowledge. And if our pasts have not led to this, may Kislev be the time when God reveals His divine purpose that has gotten you here.
How do we get through said times of betrayal and loss though? How was Joseph able to endure slavery, torture and betrayal and still love God and forgive his brothers? How did Joseph who with every dream he interpreted gave the glory to God instead of take credit for himself after all that he had endured? Remember, before being sold to slavers by his brothers he spent his teenage years knowing the love of his father, a reflection of the love of the God of Israel that his Dad Jacob spoke to him about constantly. This foundation shaped how he lived even through the terrible things he had to experience, to see everything and do everything according to the righteousness of God the Father and the Holy Spirit that dwelled in him (Genesis 41:38). The mind of Joseph was seeing not only as his earthly father taught him, but also as his Heavenly Father who instructed him even in his sleep. Are we seeing from this point of view? This is the month of dreams, but also the month not only to allow God to instruct us in our sleep, but to purposefully see from His perspective what He is doing in our lives. just as He did with Joseph who understood all he went through was to save not only all of Israel, but Egypt and Canaan as well, now is the time we step into the fullness of our destiny. God’s purpose in your life is monumental and only you are uniquely able to do what God has called you to do and go through what you have gone through to refine you not define you.
Chanukah: Festival of Lights
During Kislev Yeshua entered the city of Jerusalem and revealed Himself plainly to the people in Zion that He was indeed the savior, the Messiah they had been waiting for, and Chanukah, The Festival of Lights of all times to do so (John 10:22). He introduced Himself as the Good Shepherd and Savior, and was nearly stoned for it had He not escaped. The eyes of the blind could not see Who He was even after all of the miracles He had done to prove He was indeed the Messiah and yet He continued to do what the Father sent Him to do. As we celebrate this Festival of Lights during Kislev, we also remember never to be dismayed at those who do not receive Yeshua as Mashiach and to always stay true to what the Father, Yeshua, and the Holy Spirit have called us to in this life.
The Light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it (John 1:5). What others say we are and are not do not cause our Light, Yeshua to flicker or fade within us, and Chanukah is a reminder not only of the great faith of the Israelites of the past which brought about victory over a far superior foe, but also the boldness of Yeshua that we should carry which allows us to speak Truth even in the most hostile of environments.
The 9 Candlesticks of the Chanukiyah or Chanukah Menorah represent more than just the miracle in the temple after its rededication, but especially for today the 9 Beatitudes, the 9 fruits and the 9 gifts of the Holy Spirit, all of which were listed for the first time in the New Testament Scriptures. These three 9’s are part of our Inheritance in this new age of Grace, and allow us to truly shine as living Chanukah Menorahs wherever we go being one (Echad) as Yeshua, the Holy Spirit, and the Father are One, and the only way we as the Bride of Yeshua can be one together as well. Let your lights shine, all 9 of them, this Kislev!
The number 9 which means finality and wholeness, and this being the 9th month of the year all sounds nice, but it also represents the 9th hour, the same time Yeshua was crucified. We know it now as the moment our sins were nailed to the cross and when Yeshua became the way to the Father, but in that moment it literally became dark, and the outlook of the disciples was pure sadness and depression. This is the picture the world is constantly trying to paint for us, especially now as winter begins to set in throughout much of the world. In Europe for example, there will be hundreds of thousand across Western Europe and millions throughout Ukraine that will go without power. Wars and rumors of more wars never cease these days, but we have the collective power as a global Ekklesia to turn the rhetoric of the world on its head and watch as the global body of Yeshua works hard and prays in unison with the Father, the darkness will be shocked.
In this 9th month, many things are coming to a head, and even though the enemy feels a victory is at hand, they couldn’t be further from the truth. Now is a time to remain immovable in the promises of the King of glory. In this time of contrast between light and darkness, when the plans of the fallen kingdom of darkness look certain to succeed, remember, at the 9th hour when Yeshua died the enemy was rejoicing thinking they had won, not realizing the King of glory had just used them to strike the final blow of their own defeat. Their short-lived celebration was quashed almost immediately when Yeshua showed up in hell to preach the Gospel and take the keys of sin and death. They had sealed their fate with the innocent blood of the Lamb. All glory was given to Adonai in that moment as it was clear the plans of man and the powers of darkness never stood a chance against the Lord of Hosts. That is now our Lot, and Adonai mighty in battle is the one fighting for us and with us, something we should never forget and something we should never let the Fallen Kingdom of darkness forget either.
Never lose hope, no matter your situation or circumstance, no matter how dire or hopeless things might seem, and when God blesses you abundantly continue in awestruck reverence of the Great I Am, your Provider. The God of Salvation is using even your enemies to bless you even as the very slavers and prison guards of Joseph did, and is turning them against one another as we speak. We must never expect things to play out the way we want them to or imagine they will, but seek to understand and ask for the mysteries of God’s plans to be revealed in this month of dreams. This is your Joseph month of breakthrough, and Adonai has called to you and made you for these dark times to be a great light for and with those you love and those who hate you. Countess testimonies in Scripture and all around us testify to God always making a way when there seems to be no way, and this month will take Joshua and Caleb courage to cross into that destiny remembering God is going with you.
You may not know right now how to crush enemies as great as giants or breach the massive walls of the many cities, but it doesn’t matter if the Light Himself is with you and the promised victory has already been won. There are giants in the land these days and many of us are feeling we are in the 9th hour, even entire nations, but Adonai of Hosts never loses. We don’t worry about the how, He’s got that covered, but continue to be bold and courageous in the face of what seems like outstanding odds, firm in our understanding that that the odds are actually clearly stacked against the enemy who is standing against YHWH, the Creator of heaven and earth. The bigger the obstacle, the greater the miracle and the harder the giants fall. Get ready to see those miracles in this 9th month for you, your family, friends, businesses, cities and nations. Adonai bless you and keep you Kingdom family!
