New Gov’t Mandate
After Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s mandate to form a government expired Tuesday, Israeli President Reuven Rivlin has tasked Yesh Atid leader Yair Lapid with a new mandate to form a unity government.
Now the ball is in his court to form a new government within the month. Lapid has been vocal about a unity government with the right-wing Naftali Bennett, a religious Jew and former defense minister, even letting him serve as Prime Minister first in a rotation. It sounds simple, but people within Bennett’s own party are adamant they would not support such a move. Time will tell, 4 weeks to be exact, and we shall see if Israel has a new government or comes closer to its 5th election in two years. Please continue to pray for Adonai’s will to be done in the forming of the new government as these are times when it is greatly needed.
