Arad: Wells of Salvation

In one of the most brutal climates Israel has to offer is the location of the next city were are praying for as we continue praying for the salvation of Israel one city at a time. On the border of the Negev and Judean deserts is Arad. Before the 1960’s there was an attempt to settle the area but after 4 months of finding no source of water the effort was given up until 1964 when Israel’s first planned city sprung to life.

Located just 5 Kilometers from the ancient settlement of Arad this city has a prophetic destiny written in Obadiah 1:20 which speaks about the people from Sepharad (Spain) settling the cities of the Negev. Arad is the gateway city into the Negev desert and there are still millions of Jews that need to do Aliyah (Emigrate) back to Israel. Now that the land has been inhabited once again the groundwork has been laid for the fulfillment of that verse.

But we are praying for much more than the return of the Jewish people to Israel and the Negev, although that is important, but especially for salvation to come to Arad. As Arad is a gateway city into both the Negev and Judean deserts we are declaring Psalm 24 over Arad welcoming the King of glory to come in! It is a mixed population of Sephardic and Ashkenazi Jews, Bedouins, Black Hebrews, as well as many new migrants. It is a mixed bunch of people ready to receive the latter rain in the midst of the desert. Just as people said nothing good could come from Nazareth and Yeshua came forth, now is the time when we will see a multitude raised up from the unlikely desert city, Arad.

As we pray for Arad we remember the well of Rehoboth (Genesis 26:22) that Isaac dug and there was finally peace and Isaac said, “Now Adonai has made room for us, and we will be fruitful in the land”. In an impossible place Arad has planted itself, and now it is time for Arad, with joy, to draw from the wells of salvation (Isaiah 12:3), Yeshua. Adonai bless you and keep you!
