Herzliya: City of Light

This week as we continue praying for the salvation of Israel one city at a time it is for an ancient place with a storied past. Located on the Mediterranean coast just over 10 miles north of Tel Aviv is the city of Herzliya, named after one of the founders of the Zionist movement.

Despite its modern name, this place has a history spanning thousands of years all the way back to the Phoenicians when it was called Arshof, named after the god of fire and light, Reshef. It was later named Apollonia (City of Apollo), then Sozusa (City of the Savior), then many different iterations of Arsuf, and now Herzliya. The city and its surroundings have been the site of many famous battles throughout history due to its strategic location and port.

Today Herzliya is home to many embassies from around the world, as well as being home to both Israel’s and many of the world’s most cutting edge high-tech firms, and a major global hub of artificial intelligence research and development. It is also considered one of the wealthiest and most exclusive places to live in Israel, and one of the best-educated cities in the country. Many religions are practiced in Herzliya, but it is also one of the most secular cities in Israel with a lot of new-age religions mixed in as well. In short, Herzliya is fertile ground for the Gospel of Peace as more people are open to new ideas here than in many other more strictly religious places.

We pray specifically for the cleansing of the iniquity of the land by the blood of Yeshua as there is such a long history of worshipping false gods and the bloodshed of many battles that effects the people and the atmosphere to this day. We pray for the identity of the city to return to the name and character once given to it as Sozusa (City of the Savior)! We also pray for the salvation of the CEOs and creators within Herzilya’s High Tech firms who are shaping our entire world for better or worse as they lead the way in the monumental global shift into artificial intelligence that will fundamentally change the world as we know it.

We pray that these companies will be transformed by the blood of Yeshua and use this technology for the purposes of God instead of the purposes of satan. As Herzliya is also a major center of diplomacy and leaders of nations, we pray not only for greater diplomatic ties with every nation but also for a massive movement of countries moving their embassies to Jerusalem, the one true capital of Israel! We pray for the evangelists to come like a wave into Herzliya and for the Holy Spirit and fire to consume the city. it will be known as a city on fire for Adonai, a city of light instead of the false gods it was formerly named after. May the light of YHWH shine in Herzliya as a beacon of the power and perfect love of Adonai to Israel and to all the world in Yeshua’s mighty name! Herzliya, arise and shine, shake off the dust of the past, tear away the veil of lies, and open news eyes to see clearly YHWH Rapha (God your healer). May Herzliya be filled with the glory of God!
