Afghanistan Update

Major threats still face foreigners and their families who are still trapped within Afghanistan as well diplomats from multiple countries still waiting uncertainly in multiple embassies as to what will happen next. Some diplomats have already been evacuated as the airport has been re-opened and flights are once again operating after a window of time when evacuations had stopped altogether. The U.S. military has a heavy presence at the airport to guard against any Taliban advance while the Taliban themselves have surrounded the airport to keep any Afghan civilians from entering. Only foreigners with a Taliban escort are allowed to enter the airport at this time.

The entire country is now under Shariah law by order of the Taliban and women are now forced to cover their faces and body in public. People who supported the U.S government in Afghanistan are now being put on a list by the Taliban who are going door to door to those suspected of doing so, but their punishment is yet to be stated. Fears are growing that due to the reputation of the brutality of the Taliban that they will be executed as a warning to others who want to rebel. In one city, people replaced the Taliban flag with the Afghan national flag as protesters went to the streets, but were quickly dispersed as the Taliban shot into the crowd killing two.

Tensions are extremely high to say the least, and it is unclear both to the thousands of foreign nationals and their families still trapped in the country in multiple cities as well as foreign military personnel and the Afghan people what will happen next. Please pray for those still trapped in the country from many different nations, foreign militaries, and for the people of Afghanistan being targeted for helping western nations for divine protection, for mercy, for safe return to they nations, and safety within Afghanistan. It is a perilous moment in Afghanistan and our prayers are very much needed in this uncertain time.
