9th of Av: Tish’a B’Av

We are on the eve of one of the most tragic and disastrous days in all of Jewish history. Beginning on the night of August 12th and ending on the night of August 13 (Av 9) a commemoration of the destruction of the 1st and 2nd temples in Jerusalem which happened many years apart but on the same day will be mourned here in Israel and amongst all practicing Jews abroad.

It is only two tragedies out of many that have happened on the 9th of Av to the Jewish people throughout the centuries, but particularly poignant right now here in Israel.

As we write this, Iran and it proxies in Gaza, the West Bank, Yemen, Syria, Iraq, and Lebanon have vowed to attack Israel in a drastic way. There has been speculation as to when it will happen, but as of now all signs point to the 9th of Av, beginning the night of August 12. Because of this, please pray with us for this attack to be turned back on the enemies of Israel and for a wall of protection around our country. And in doing so please do not pray from a place of fear or worry, but from the victory of Yeshua and in the joy of Yahweh. The victory is already won and we must pray from and worship from this place.

This is the time to declare and live out Isaiah 61:3 that’s says,

To grant to those who mourn in Zion the following: To give them a turban instead of dust [on their heads, a sign of mourning], The oil of joy instead of mourning, The garment [expressive] of praise instead of a disheartened spirit.
