A chokepoint of the Isaiah 19 Highway, the city we are praying for this week has seen little peace over its long history due to its strategic location. Ramla, is at the intersection of what is known as the “Via Maris” connecting Cairo with Damascus, literally the intersection of Isaiah 19 connecting Israel with Assyria to the north and Egypt to the south as well as the road connecting Jerusalem with the Jaffa Port. Many key battles throughout the centuries have been fought in Ramla including in the 1948 Arab Israeli war after which it became what is known in Israel today as a “mixed City” meaning there is a mix of both Jewish and Arab citizens.
Ramla is a crossroads city and just as in the New Testament where the Gospel was shared in major cities where the message would go forth the furthest and the fastest, we are praying strategically to see this come pass in these end times in all of Israel. It is not only a commercial center for commerce and ideas, but also for the Gospel.
Tensions run high these days in mixed cities however, with a lot of violence between Jews and Arabs in the past year so it is extremely important that we press in prayer to see the breakthrough, Yeshua, enter the scene. He is the only way to true peace, and He is what Ramla needs. May this city of intersection become the city where people meet once again at the table of Psalm 23 with Yeshua and spread the words on the highways of Israel. Adonai bless you and keep you!
