If you have not been paying much attention to the upcoming Indonesian elections on April 17th, now is the time! This is a big one folks, and the stakes are high. It is imperative that we as the Remnant be praying for God’s will to be done in this election. There are over 192 million people registered to vote in what is playing out to be a rematch of the 2014 election between current President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Prabowo Subianto. Do not let the fact that there is a rematch of the past election deter you from praying or voting!

If you believe religious freedom is restricted now, be prepared for much much worse if Prabowo Subianto is elected. With the fourth largest population in the world, the potential for Indonesia’s growth is enormous, but it can just as easily go the other way. This is an election that will decide the future of Indonesia for far longer than five years one way or the other. Radical Islamist fundamentalists ruling Indonesia is the prospect the nation faces. That is not something the people of Indonesia nor the world will accept. It is not the destiny of Indonesia.

This election will determine whether Indonesia goes back to the authoritarianism it lived under before becoming a democratic nation in 1998, or if the people will decide to give Jokowi another chance and hold him accountable to his promises. This is the first year that the elections will also be held for every level of governmental office from the President all the way down to the local leaders and every position in between. This has the potential to change the nation from the ground up in one fell swoop.

As the Remnant, we must decide to either step on the head of the snake or get bitten. We as the children of God have been given authority through Christ who sits at the right hand of the Father to tread on the heads of snakes and scorpions and the ability to exercise authority over all power of the enemy (Luke 10:19). We must be fervent in our prayers against the fallen kingdom of darkness, and stand confidently in the authority given us through Christ.

The salvation of Indonesia is through Christ Jesus, and it will take the ardent and bold prayers of His Children to destroy the plans of the enemy being formed and carried out in secrecy. In this Biblical month of Adar II, as we have celebrated Purim, let us again celebrate the victory over the enemies of God’s people. Let there be no doubt, every dirty trick and underhanded tactic is being planned and implemented as we speak in the run up to the election. Although Indonesia is the world’s third largest democracy, many struggles still remain with voter fraud, vote buying and intimidation continuing to play a role at all levels of the voting procedure. These plans will be thwarted and brought to the light with the righteous prayers of the saints issuing forth.” For nothing is hidden that will not be made manifest, nor is anything secret that will not be known and come to light” (Luke 8:17).

The great nation of Indonesia (for this is how God sees her) still has much healing to go through, and for that to happen Abba has given us clear instructions. First and foremost, we must repent.

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14). The Lord longs to have mercy, if only we would cry our for it.

Join with us in standing together as the Body of Yeshua as warriors of the Kingdom who “Put on the full armor of God, so that we will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil” (Ephesians 6:11). We are warriors, and it is high time we pray as such. The Believers in the nations stand with the Remnant in Indonesia and join whole-heartedly in intercession with our brothers and sisters in Christ. Indonesia will be filled with the Glory of God! Yeshua is coming soon.
