Let’s take a step back America and get above the storm clouds for a moment. We are living in a very crucial time right now with the government shutdown at the eye of the storm. The voices of media are being whipped up hitting record wind speeds while facts, lies and lack of context are like roofs, cars and street signs being thrown through the sky. Standing in the middle of the storm is every American that can barely see what’s happening around them and can hardly hear the person speaking next to them. How do we sea through rain, dodge the debris and hear above the noise? Perhaps more importantly how do we survive the storm and come out stronger? The Word of God tells us that every person is like a tree Psalm 1:3, so it is up to us what type of tree we will be in the midst of this storm. We need to be a tree that is not uprooted easily in the gale force winds of the facts, lies and lack of context we see and hear in the media. We must have a strong, but flexible trunk that will bend, but not break at the force of these winds that are ultimately trying to change the landscape to better fit the narrative and “beliefs” of each media outlet. We must be like the palm tree amidst the storm that has been created to withstand and outlive the fleeting storm.

Let’s start with the journalists and reporters. The job of a journalist and reporter has become something akin to tax collector in the Bible. No one likes you or trusts you. The outlook of Journalism has reached an all time low recently, with the now infamous investigative journalist, Claas Relotius, who was awarded journalist of the year by CNN. It turns out he actually made up most of his stories. In more recent news, multiple top news channels in the country purposefully misreported and threw all context to the wind in the case of the now viral video of a confrontation with a Native American man and the MAGA hat wearing kids of Covington High School. The school has been temporarily closed now due to threats of a school shooting, the boy who was front and center of the viral video has been receiving death threats, and his parents may lose their jobs. The truth in its correct context is what we as consumers of the news need, but not what we are getting. When we at VdD7 look at the news, we are very aware of the bias and leaning of each news channel, and are able to sift through said media to get a fuller picture of the facts.

As the Body of Christ, and warriors of the Kingdom of God, we have to be aware of our battlefield. Right now that battlefield is very similar to the confrontation we see in 1 Kings 18 between Elijah and the false prophets. The 450 prophets of Baal and 400 prophets of Ashera would build an altar and call on their gods to send fire to consume the sacrifice, and Elijah would call on the God of Israel to do the same. Whichever altar was consumed by fire, would be the winner, and Israel would worship only that God. The current media atmosphere can be summed up by the increasingly alarming actions that the prophets of Baal and Ashera resorted to as they tried and failed in their endeavor. “O Baal, hear and answer us.” But there was no voice and no one answered. And they leaped about the altar which they had made” (1 Kings 18:26). These false prophets knew the law of the God of Israel that said a prophet of false gods should be put to death (Deuteronomy 13:5). In the same way the fallen Kingdom of darkness knows their time is short and their end is near, and are resorting to more and more blatant means to try and push their agenda. “So they cried out with a loud voice [to get Baal’s attention] and cut themselves with swords and lances in accordance with their custom, until the blood flowed out on them.  As midday passed, they played the part of prophets and raved dramatically until the time for offering the evening sacrifice; but there was no voice, no one answered, and no one paid attention” (1 Kings 18:28-29). You know the end of the story. Elijah asks the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel to consume the sacrifice with fire, and He did, then all of the false prophets were put to death as the Law stated.

Now is the time to stand firm like Elijah who stood unfazed like a palm tree in a hurricane, against seemingly impossible odds being outnumbered 850 to 1. We must drown out the loud voices and desperate actions of the fallen Kingdom of darkness and its manifestations in the natural that seek to divide us, confuse us and lead us astray as Jezebel did to Israel. Her destruction was prophesied and fulfilled, and it will come to pass again in this season of Jehu. Rooted firmly in the Word of God, we know the Truth and will not be deceived. Rise above the storm on wings like eagles, and see from the perspective of the Almighty. It is high time we use our voices as the remnant that reach directly to the ear of Yeshua, knowing the end of our demonic enemy, and the incomprehensible power of the God of Creation. Let the enemy destroy themselves, but be careful not to get pulled into the destruction. Watch the enemy come unhinged as we stand united as the Body of Christ, calm, collected, and declaring the Word of the Lord, and interceding for the fulfillment of God’s redemptive purpose for these United States. God Bless America!
