Shalom Kingdom family! Happy Thanksgiving! No matter where you are in the world, it is always an appropriate day to give thanks to the Lord, but today, Nov. 22, the fourth Thursday of November, is a special day set aside in the United States as a day of giving thanks to God, or in the words of Abraham Lincoln who in 1863 proclaimed it be a national day of “Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens.” Going even further back to the early 1600’s however, it was also a yearly tradition by the earliest European settlers of the New World (later United States) to hold a day of thanksgiving and prayer to Almighty God at the end of their first harvest. Now is as good a time as any to take stock of the blessings that Adonai has poured out over our lives. Even as we write this on the eve of Thanksgiving day, the first rains of the year in California have officially begun.
Now the dry ground and the newly planted crops are receiving the rain they need, and the reservoirs, lakes and rivers are being filled to overflow, easing the drought that has been a mainstay in the Golden State. What a day to declare Psalm 107:1 that says, “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.” Let us give thanks for all that the Lord has already promised to come, prophesying in our feasting and fellowship the great harvest that is yet to be reaped! “I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest” (John 4:35). While we’re at it, let us dance and rejoice in the rain, welcoming the latter rain that is soon to be poured out upon the earth (Hosea 6:3)! This day represents a new beginning, a time of breakthrough and victory, and no matter where we are, who we are with, or what our situation, our heart cry to the King of glory is for more of Him, overflowing abundance, that our hearts would be full of Him and we would walk through Him, the Door, and find pasture (John 10:9). Happy Thanksgiving mighty sons and daughters of the Most high, and take this time to give all glory, honor and praise to our King Yeshua.
