Elul 2025: A Message From Jerusalem
Enquanto me sento a escrever isto, com vista para o Monte do Templo aqui na cidade do Grande Rei, este mês bíblico de Elul takes on a meaning and significance that has never been more poignant, and more important to observe than any other time in history. It is now a month that is swirling in controversy, hearsay, assumptions, deceptions, and if we deviate from the Word, this time and season can be treacherous at best, as rumors and speculation fly as to the time and season we are in and what to do. The new Pope himself last month even went off script as he addressed global Catholics and any others listening, saying that the prophecy of Daniel (Daniel 9:24-27) has now officially begun as he spoke regarding the readiness of the Levitical priests here in Israel as well as the new high priest of the third temple to begin their duties once the temple is built.
Whether you like the Pope or are Catholic makes no difference, because aside from the Pope, hundreds of millions of people if not billions of believers in Yeshua, as well as all of the world’s Jews and Muslims, have suddenly taken a collective pause, because in every Holy text of each of the three, the building of the third temple and the re-establishment of the temple sacrifices mark the beginning of the end-times calendar. For Jews, it is a deception thinking that the third temple means the coming of the Messiah the first and only time, while it is in truth the anti-Messiah. For we as believers in Yeshua as the Messiah, it is marking the beginning of the 7 years of Tribulation, judgments, and at the end of the 7 years, the return of Yeshua. And for Muslims, they also believe in Yeshua’s coming and the third temple being a marker of that, but with the caveat of Yeshua not being the Son of God or a part of the divine Trinity, but only a prophet, as well as Islam and the prophet Muhammad as the only true way to God and salvation. So what now?
End Times Impartation of Spiritual Gifts
As we entered into a time of worship just prior to the beginning of Elul, with the understanding of the significance of the timing according to Scripture, an open vision was had of King David entering the room, giving gifts to each person in preparation for the season to come, each one uniquely suited for the individual, hand-picked and delivered by King David, the progenitor and foreshadower of Yeshua Himself. He spoke and said: Take off your shoes, for this is Holy ground, and the understanding was that said gifts were being received in the throne room, the Holy of Holies.
The experience was glorious, and the message was clear to each of us: the time to come out of the cave of Adullam (1 Samuel 22) is now, and the King of kings Himself is equipping us especially for the moment at hand. This is happening corporately around the globe amongst the body of Yeshua, and if you have not yet stopped, received, given thanks, and taken into account what God would have you do next, now—right now—is the time. When you have received, it is time to choose what you will do next given the grandeur and finality of the times we are living in, not just for ourselves but for the salvation of the world, and very importantly the salvation of Israel, as this will be the final stroke of God’s celestial pen, then Yeshua will return (Romans 11:25-26).
Shamar: Mighty Men of David
Exiting the cave of Adullam is not without its challenges, however. We remember David and his mighty men, as they stepped out of the safety of their hidden camp within the cave, where they had been prepared and equipped to be the tip of the spear in seeing God’s anointed enthroned. But was it the challenges they would face that were their focus, or were they too transfixed on being the instruments of God’s will to see His word come to pass (Shamar in Hebrew), to be bothered by the details? Just as God told the prophet Jeremiah when he saw the branch of the almond tree blossoming in his vision—a warning sign of springtime coming soon in Israel—the Mighty Men of David understood that God is always “actively looking after His word to fulfill it (Jeremiah 1:12).” King David was God’s anointed King, and God would make it come to pass no matter what, and the Mighty Men of David trusted God completely that no matter how it happened, it would. In your life, God is actively looking after His Word over you to fulfill it, and if you have taken lightly the things God has spoken over you, promised you, and called you for, let this very real and now possibility of the third temple being built as soon as next year be for you your branch of almond blossoms, warning of the season to come and what to be prepared for.
Arise, mighty men of David, from the obscurity and darkness of your caves! You are called out of habitual complacency into mission-focused action, out of darkness into the light, and from loneliness into a kingdom family hated by the world but beloved by Yahweh. You were born for the action of these end times, you were created to walk and run with faces like lions toward the fight and into the fire. Satan has tried to lie to you and bring trauma, heartbreak, disappointment, and failure to define you, but God throws it all into the fire of His great furnace, lets it sink to the bottom of the ocean, and forgets it as you repent. He melts these terrors of your past and things that haunt you in your present in His Holy fire, and He is refining what once defined you into a new vessel of honor and righteousness for such a time as this. God did not make a mistake when He put you here and now, and now is not the time to run from the calling of God on your life, as He will chase you into eternity anyway through thick and thin and all of your sin, so you might as well let the Shepherd lead you to green pastures and by streams of living water. His burden is easy and His yoke is light, and the time of you being burdened needlessly comes to an end now. His marching orders have been sent, and if you haven’t opened your letter for your current assignment, here’s your message: “You’ve got mail.” Love, God.
Aaronic Priesthood and Melchizedek Priesthood
This month of Elul we are preparing for Yom Teruah (Feast of Trumpets), otherwise known in Jewish tradition as Rosh Hashaná, beginning on the night of September 22nd until the night of September 24th. It is both the last day of Elul and the first day of the next (Tishri), and is widely believed to be the day for Jews that the Messiah will come, and for believers in Yeshua when Yeshua will return and be crowned as King (Philippians 2:10-11) at the sound of the trumpet. It is also the same day that the first temple in Jerusalem was dedicated by King Solomon upon its completion. Fast forward to today, the parallels could not be any more obvious. For every Jew, for the first time in 2,500 years, this Elul and coming Yom Teruah is the closest the third temple has ever been to being built with everything prepared, high priest and all, including the Red Heifer without blemish.
Because of the Abraham Accords and the current war conflict, those opposed to the building of a Jewish temple in Jerusalem (Iran, Syria, Hezbollah, Hamas, Turkey) no longer have the military or political clout to postpone it, while the rest of the Middle East and the majority of prominent Muslim clerics are even saying publicly that it only makes sense that there be a Jewish temple in Jerusalem. Add to the mix Donald Trump and his willingness to be a part of making it happen, and we have what SEEMS to be a perfect storm brewing in Zion. Many are saying that this is or very well could be the precursor to the false 7-year peace deal spoken of in Daniel 9:7 which will only happen once the 3rd temple is built and performing daily sacrifices, which the global ruler (Antichrist) at that time will stop at the 3 ½ year mark and set up an image of himself to be worshiped by the world in the Holy of Holies. With Donald Trump’s great push for peace around the world and willingness to broker a deal to have the third temple built, there is enough evidence at the very least to make one want to fast and pray, repent, seek the face of God, and have clarity for yourself about the time and season and what God would have you do.
In the midst of all of this, Hebrews 7 and 8 is where the buck stops for every Spirit-filled believer in Yeshua. While we see the Aaronic priesthood revived, we must remember who we are in Yeshua and who He is as our High Priest forevermore in the order of Melchizedek.
Hebrews 8:1-2
“Now the main point of what we have to say is this: we have such a High Priest, [Yeshua] who is seated [in the place of honor] at the right hand of the throne of Yahweh in heaven, a Minister (Officiating Priest) in the holy places and in the true tabernacle, which is erected not by man, but by Yeshua.”
As we are now seated with Yeshua our High Priest and the Father in the true temple not built by the hands of man, and are now by definition ministering the Gospel of the Kingdom in the order of the priesthood of Melchizedek, given divine authority and power through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit to make disciples of the nations in accordance with the law made perfect through the death, resurrection, and ascension of Yeshua to the right hand of the Father. To revert back to the Aaronic priesthood is certain death to those who subscribe to it, and in our current fight in the natural and the spirit, incapable of overcoming or bringing any victory whatsoever over death itself and the fallen kingdom of darkness. It must come to pass but that is not our lot as born-again believers.
We are now priests of our own temple—body, mind, and soul—which is a vessel of the Holy Spirit, and while it is extremely exciting the time and season we are living in, our focus must be Yeshua first and from Him let every thought and action take root so as to see clearly and not be deceived by those who say this and that, but are incoherent with the Word. Do not be watered down in your priestly authority and function and let the things of the world lead you astray, but stand immovable in the Holy of Holies where the enemies of God are scoffed at, and from where perfect love (Yahweh) lives and flows unhindered and overflowing. Ask and you will receive what it means to operate fully in the order of Melchizedek in your personal life, and be blown away because it is a much greater inheritance than one can imagine, one only Yahweh can give. It is time to walk unhindered in God’s perfect love and power for His glory, ushering in Yeshua’s soon return.
The Hopeless Adversary and Our Greatest Enemy (Ourselves)
Yahweh sent a man to Jerusalem to initiate and complete its reconstruction after their exile to Babylon, Nehemiah. “So the wall was completed in 52 days on the 25th day of Elul. When all our enemies heard about it (the wall), and all the [Gentile] nations around us saw it, they lost their confidence; for they recognized that this work had been accomplished with the help of our God.” The enemies of God and His people are hopeless, even unto the bodily death of we as God’s sons and daughters in Yeshua. “Whom shall we fear? None but Yahweh” (Psalm 27:1).
As the signs of the times are clear here in Israel, and in every other part of the world in different ways, we too are being called like Nehemiah with a sword in one hand and a hammer in the other (Nehemiah 4:17-23), and it is a reminder for each of us individually as we protect the sanctity of the temple, we being the temple of the Holy Spirit, forcing the enemy to lose all hope of gaining access ever again to corrupt it. “So submit to [the authority of] God, resist the devil [stand firm against him] and he will flee from you.” Notice the order. It does not say resist the devil then submit to God, but the other way around. Focus on the Great I Am and anything not from Him will be forced out.
The Enemy is in the Camp
Once we have this process down, then the enemy’s sole purpose becomes trying to keep us from bringing restoration (Yeshua/salvation) to other people, families, cities and nations. Our ability to weather any storm, to love and bless our enemies, to live and die every day for Yeshua, is not possible without the King of glory being first. The rebuilt walls of Jerusalem were evidence to Israel’s enemies that Yahweh had forgiven them, they were still His people, and He was with them. However, at the same time of the victory of the rebuilt walls, there was plotting amongst the Jerusalemites against Nehemiah (Nehemiah 6:17-19), nobles who reported to the enemies of Nehemiah the progress of the wall and all that was happening inside Jerusalem as well as plotting to have him killed.
The same goes for ourselves in these end times and is written throughout Scripture that many will fall away from the faith, betray one another, and even our own family members will have us handed over to be killed for believing Yeshua is the Messiah (Matt. 24:10-12, Mark 13:12, Luke 21:16, 2 Tim. 3:1-5). If you are in a moment right now where you feel like there are breaches in your walls the enemy is using to infiltrate, causing you to turn away from the Great I Am, now is the opportune time to identify the intruders, kick them out, patch up the holes, set watchmen on the walls and guardians at the gates 24/7. With a sword in one hand and a hammer in the other make the enemy flee and repair the breach from whence they came. For those who have enemies in the camp, may God give you heightened discernment of spirits, a backbone of steel in your identity in Yeshua and Him in you, and the courage to walk it out in boldness and in the freedom of the Holy Spirit. God is with you and for you! (John 14:18,20)
Conclusão
As the importance of the times we are living in becomes glaringly evident, it is ever important that our eyes remain fixed on Yeshua because as we enter this new season, it will require our full attention on Him and what He is doing and calling us to do. Everything else is a distraction. The Holy Spirit led me to a message from a dear friend written to me which echoed like a call to the entire body of Yeshua in this moment: “May the God of Israel and the nations roar His love through you and make you His instrument of Peace.”
And I was reminded of Joel 3:16 which says, “Yahweh thunders and roars from Zion and utters His voice from Jerusalem [in judgment of His enemies], and the heavens and the earth tremble and shudder; but Yahweh is a refuge for His people and a stronghold [of protection] to the children of Israel.” May the Lion of the tribe of Judah roar in and through you this Elul as His enemies are judged and salvation runs rampant like never seen before in the very midst of all the enemy is busy trying to do and undo. Yahweh bless you and keep you, mighty men and women of God!
