As we have been interceding from Jerusalem, we were led by the Holy Spirit to go to Mount Zion, the City of David, the first place to be referred to as Zion in the Bible (2 Samuel 5:7) to pray from there for Israel and the nations of the world. For clarity, the Temple Mount that is on the adjoining Mount Moriah is also part of the Biblical Mount Zion. It was there in the City of David, that the Spirit of the Adonai led us to 1 Kings 8:37-40. We were amazed at the fact that we were standing so close to the place where Solomon 3,000 years ago would have been saying these words while addressing all of Israel at the inauguration of the First Temple. How perfect and specific is El Elyon! Zion, the same place where the Eternal commanded the angel of Adonai to stop the plague at the threshing floor (2 Samuel 24:16) where the Temple would be built and the Ark of the Covenant placed. These verses (1 Kings 8:37-40) are like a key to unlocking the door of healing to the nations for this time and season while we are all currently being affected by and living with COVID-19. For both Jew and gentile alike King Solomon explicitly says:
“If there is famine in the land, or if there is pestilence (plague), blight, mildew, migratory locusts, or grasshoppers, if their enemy besieges them in the land of their cities, whatever affliction or plague, whatever sickness [there is], whatever prayer or pleading is made by any individual, or by Your people Israel, each knowing the affliction of his own heart, and spreading his hands out toward this house; then hear in heaven Your dwelling place, and forgive and act and give to each according to his ways, whose heart (mind) You know, for You and You alone know the hearts of all the children of men, so that they may fear You [with reverence and awe] all the days that they live in the land which You have given to our fathers.
Now a days there is no temple in Zion, but its significance in the eyes and heart of the Father have not wained. In that moment as we prayed, we were standing atop the very ruins of the palace of King David, the seed of Yeshua (Romans 1:3). It was from his palace that David wrote many of the divinely inspired Psalms, including Psalm 91 which is of particular interest in these trying times. Mount Zion is the place where YHWH the God of Israel dwells (Isaiah 8:18 Psalm 74:2), the place where He is King (Isaiah 24:23), where He has installed His king, David (Psalm 2:6), and is still the apple of His eye (Zachariah 2:8). He has chosen Zion for His holy habitation (Psalm 132:13), the place where the life giving waters of the Gihon Spring still flow forth (Genesis 2:13), and where the river of life will flow from His throne (Revelation 22:1). It is time to take the advice of King Solomon, to pray in Yeshua’s Name toward Zion for the salvation of Israel (Psalm 14:7) and the peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6), as the remnant of every nation who blesses Israel and aligns with Jerusalem will be blessed (Genesis 12:3), and Abba will hear our prayers and petitions for our nations, as we love that which He loves. Let’s go up to the place Hebrews 12:22-24 describes. “But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect, to Yeshua the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel.” We stretch our hands toward the mountain of healing where the plague was stopped and YHWH had mercy. Just as the Almighty spared Zion then and has healed Zion since (Jeremiah 30:17), we pray for the same healing and mercy of Emmanuel (God with us). Let’s go up to the place of the voice that told John, “Come up here” (Revelation 4:1) to the throne of King Yeshua, the place that was, and is, and is to come, to He Who was, and is, and is to come (Revelation 1:8). We know with certainty that through Yeshua (John 14:6), the Father hears our petitions for His Holy Mountain, chosen people, and the nations of the world. We also pray for the opening of the gates of Judea and Samaria, as the Gospel went from Jerusalem, to Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth, and will also return through Judea and Samaria back to Jerusalem. The Psalm 24 generation who will ascend unto the Mountain of the Lord, and stand in His holy place is arising, and the gates are being opened for salvation to enter Jerusalem once more. The principalities and powers are being shaken in all the earth, and the petitions of the saints are being heard from on High. Do not cease praying or lose hope for the great harvest is being prepared and the fallen kingdom of darkness is powerless to stop it. Let us all pray as 1 Kings 8:37-40 tells us in the times of plague and pestilence, a call for all nations to turn to the heart of the Father, to Zion. We stand as one body of Messiah with the heart of Psalm 125:1. “Those who trust in and rely on the Lord [with confident expectation] are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved but remains forever.” As we fast and pray as one body turned to Zion, we come with a heart that returns to repentance, forgiveness, and holiness just as Daniel did facing Jerusalem in prayer, petition and fasting for exiled Israel (Daniel 9:3).
