The journey and celebration of Shavuot (Pentecost) is as ancient as Moses and all of Israel in the wilderness at Mount Sinai. 7 weeks after fleeing from Egypt Israel finally arrived to the place Adonai chose to reveal Himself and the law to Israel, to make a blood covenant with them there for all time, the first Shavuot, the giving of the Torah when all of Israel with one voice said: “Everything Adonai has said we will do” (Exodus 19). Those were days of preparation and awe starting on the first day of the 3rd month (Sivan) leading up to the 6th day of the 3rd month (Sivan) when Adonai descended upon Mount Sinai in fire and the whole mountain shook violently. Also, equally as important, the Hebrew alphabet was given for the first time, the first alphabet in history that forever changed civilization from that day forth.
1,300 years later 120 believers in Yeshua the Messiah gathered together in the upper room of a house on Mount Zion with much the same posture as Israel and Moses that fateful day at Mount Sinai, in preparation with one mind and one purpose waiting for the gift that Yeshua had promised before He ascended to the right hand of the Father (Acts 1-2). With just as much intensity as at Mount Sinai, the Bride of Yeshua (Kallah Mashiah) was born the same day of the giving of the Torah on Mount Sinai “When suddenly a sound came from heaven like a rushing violent wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.
There appeared to them tongues resembling fire, which were being distributed [among them], and they rested on each one of them [as each person received the Holy Spirit].
And they were all filled [that is, diffused throughout their being] with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues (different languages), as the Spirit was giving them the ability to speak out [clearly and appropriately]” (Acts 2:1-4). Just as Adonai came in fire upon Mount Sinai, the Holy Spirit came in fire on Mount Zion. Just as Adonai gave the Israelites the first alphabet at Sinai, the Holy Spirit caused them to speak in other tongues on Mount Zion. Where once before a common language led men to build the tower of Babel, the Great I Am gave men the ability through the Holy Spirit to speak in all languages for His glory and the salvation of Israel and the nations.
After the Bride of Messiah was born on Mount Zion, Hebrews 12:18-19 tells us that we “have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to myriads of angels [in festive gathering], and to the general assembly and assembly of the firstborn who are registered [as citizens] in heaven, and to God, who is Judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous (the redeemed in heaven) who have been made perfect [bringing them to their final glory], and to Yeshua, the Mediator of a new covenant [uniting God and man].” That’s right, our citizenship is now that of heaven, and no longer the earth, and as citizens of heaven, we should know what is going on in heaven in order to bring it into the reality of earth. This means that verses like “Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10), and “bind what has been bound in heaven and loose what has been loosed in heaven” (Matthew 16:19) should be commonplace. 120 people gave birth to a global Holy Spirit congregation of citizens of heaven, but is the Body of Messiah nowadays displaying the fruit of heavenly citizenship? A shaking has taken place with this COVID-19 that has affected the church in a major way, and it is a wake-up call to remember the way we are supposed to walk in the signs and wonders that Yeshua says should follow every believer (Mark 16:17-18). That brings us to today, a global Shavuot.
The traditions and practices of the Ekklesia are being shaken, and anything that is not from Adonai is being broken and destroyed as it was never part of Yeshua’s plan for His Bride in the first place. The Bride of Yeshua is being refined and purified for this season, and a remnant is arising from the shaking in every nation of the world unadulterated by traditions and man-made systems. Their expectation is at the minimum signs and wonders, and they believe wholeheartedly in the upper room experience for the whole world, the last great harvest, the latter rain before the tribulation, and the return of Yeshua. The unexpected ones, the nameless and faceless ones who merge together in every sphere of society working together for the glory of the Father and are paving the way for the return of Yeshua are being activated around the globe. Although Spirit-filled believers are by far the minority today, there are far more than the 120 it all started with. So if that was the explosion that came from so few, what does a global Shavuot have in store? What does it look like when entire nations are filled with the Holy Spirit? Our wildest imagination cannot fathom it, but rest assured you won’t want to miss it, or worse, come against it. Now is the time to shift our paradigm from the world’s to the Kingdom’s, from earthy to the heavenly if we are going to be a part of the end times wave of global salvation. This move of Adonai is not waiting for anyone, and if we do not raise up in our destiny to be a part of it, Abba will raise up someone else in our place. A New Normal is here. The question is which New Normal will you be a part of, the world’s or heaven’s? Hag Sameach!
