After the official election results were released on Tuesday April, 21st, President Joko Widodo won a second term in office by a comfortable margin, but his opponent, former Special Forces General Prabowo Subianto has refused to accept the result.\u00a0 This has triggered large protests in support of Prabowo in the thousands, in the streets of Jakarta and other cities throughout the country.\u00a0 All of this is unfolding after a series of arrests in the past weeks of ISIS linked terrorists who were reportedly planning to use the protests to as a means to create chaos.\u00a0 Not only that, but another former Special Forces commander in support of Prabowo was arrested for trying to smuggle weapons into last nights protests, a move that has further angered supporters of Prabowo.\u00a0 These developments have reasonably put people on edge for what may happen in the coming hours and days.<\/p>\n

We flew into Jakarta last night, and without realizing it had booked a hotel very close to the Elections Supervisory Agency Building, where the bulk of the protests were being held and are set to continue into the day today.\u00a0 We caught the mayhem of the tail end of last night\u2019s protest as we were coming in and saw from the response of the police, that they are not taking any chances, coming with armored personnel vehicles, large numbers, and even water cannons and tear gas to disperse the crowds.\u00a0 It is reported that more than 30,000 troops have been deployed in Jakarta just in case things get too out of hand.\u00a0 All of the police and military personnel involved in quelling the riots are reported to have no live ammunition.<\/p>\n

Pease pray for the leaders and the government of Indonesia now that the election results are in and official, according to 1 Timothy 2:1-3, and that during this term of President Joko Widodo, he and his team would be brave and courageous in implementing righteous legislation and just policies.\u00a0 Righteousness and justice will be the foundation of the Indonesian government just as they are the foundation of the throne of God (Psalm 84:19).\u00a0 We ask you to pray for Indonesia in this moment of transition, for the safety and protection of the people, and the thwarting of any plans of the fallen kingdom of darkness to sew further chaos and destruction, remembering it is the Lord who fights our battles. \u201cDevise your strategy, but it will be thwarted; propose your plan, but it will not stand, for God is with us. (Isaiah 8:10).<\/p>\n

Pray that A shield of protection will be erected for every innocent man, woman, and child who are being affected by these protests, declaring 2 Thessalonians 3:3 over Indonesia, \u201cBut the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen you and will protect and guard you against the evil one.\u201d\u00a0 Let us join in agreement with the plans of Adonai for this nation that has a special place in \u202aAbba\u202c\u2019s heart, and for the minds and hearts of the people to come into alignment with His.\u00a0 Indonesia will be a sheep nation (Matthew 25:32), and this is just one step further towards this country waving the banner of the King of Glory as their standard.\u00a0 God protect the people of Indonesia during this tenuous time, and God bless Indonesia.<\/p>\n\t<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\n\t
