The time to light the candles of Hannukah has come. This festival speaks of God\u2019s miracles to overcome in times of distress, to bring about multiplication in the face of lack and a light in the midst of the darkness. The candles of the Hanukkiah are lit beginning on the 24th of Kislev (December 2nd) until Tevet 2 (December 10th) for eight days, commemorating the re-dedication of the 2nd temple in Jerusalem after the Maccabees defeat of the occupying Syrian army. When the Maccabees retook Jerusalem, the first order of business was to re-dedicate the 2nd temple that had been desecrated by the Syrians. During the process, there was only enough pure olive oil to keep the candles of the Menorah burning for 1 day however, but miraculously the candles stayed lit for eight days until the proper oil could be brought. This miracle of the Lord is now celebrated each year in commemoration of these events.<\/p>\n

Hannukah is a reminder that the light of the Most High shines upon us and within us. It is paramount that we as the light of the world (Matthew 5:14), no matter our circumstances or situation remember that ,\u201cour bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit who lives in us, whom we have received from God\u201d (1 Corinthians 6:19). It is a time to remember the miracles God has worked in our lives, to manifest the Father\u2019s heart that has been given to us through the Holy Spirit, and to be a light in the midst of the darkness around us. Let us draw from the bottomless vat of anointing oil that wells up within us from the Holy Spirit and call on the fire of the Almighty to set us alight! Our temples have been redeemed by the Blood of the Lamb, and His light shines eternally as we re-dedicate ourselves to the call of Elohim on our lives each day. Ignite the Fire during this Hanukkah festival and light the fires of those around you while you\u2019re at it!
