Shechem \/ Nablus<\/h3>\n\t<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\n\t\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div> \n<\/div><\/div>\n\t\t

This week we are praying for a city that arguably has a destiny second only to Jerusalem. It is a little known place today, but Genesis, Deuteronomy, Joshua and Judges hallow this city<\/strong> over all other cities of the land of Israel. Know today as Nablus,<\/em><\/strong> in the Bible it is known as Shechem<\/strong>. According to Genesis 12:6\u20137 Abram “built an altar to Adonai who had appeared to him\u2026 and had given that land to his descendants”. <\/em><\/p>\n\t<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The Bible states that on this occasion, God confirmed the covenant<\/strong> He had first made with Abraham in Harran, regarding the possession of the land of Canaan. It is the same place where Simeon and Levi, the sons of Jacob, took revenge on behalf of their sister Dinah who was raped by \u201cShechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, the prince of the land\u201d<\/strong> (Genesis 34:2)<\/em>.<\/p>\n\t<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Located between Mount Ebal<\/strong> and Mount Gerizim<\/strong> (Deuteronomy 11:29)<\/em>, the mountain of cursing and blessing, it was the first place settled by the Israelites in the Promised Land. It was at Shechem<\/strong><\/em> that Joshua assembled the Israelites and asked them to choose between serving the God of Abraham who had delivered them from Egypt<\/em>, or the false gods which their ancestors had served on the other side of the Euphrates River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land they now lived.<\/p>\n\t<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

What\u2019s more, it became the first capitol of Israel<\/strong>, and is the location of both Joseph\u2019s tomb (Joshua 24:32)<\/em> and Jacob\u2019s well (Genesis 33:18-19)<\/em>. If that wasn\u2019t enough, it is the location where Yeshua met the Samaritan woman at Jacob\u2019s well<\/em><\/strong> (John 4:5-6)<\/em> and revealed to her that He is the Messiah and instead of worshipping in the temple now is the time that we can worship the Father anywhere in Spirit and truth (John 4:23-24)<\/em>.<\/p>\n\t<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Its redemptive purpose is apostolic to say the least, the city where Yeshua began His ministry<\/em><\/strong>. It is a launching pad of the Gospel of Peace, a place of worshippers in Spirit and Truth<\/strong>, and a place where the promise of Adonai was confirmed to Abraham, a birthing place and a gateway of the Promised Land. Today Nablus (Shechem)<\/em> is a place of strife between the Arabs ad Jews due to the Tomb of Joseph being located there, but Adonai has plans for Nablus, not to be a place of contention, but a place where the Holy Spirit destroys the divide between Arab and Jew,<\/em><\/strong> where the Tabernacle of David is being rebuilt, and true worship arises tearing down strongholds and building up disciples paving the way for the return of Yeshua. Join us in lifting up Nablus in prayer this week,<\/strong> for salvation to flood the city, for the blood of Yeshua to heal the land,<\/em> and its redemptive purpose in Him to be fulfilled.
