Sivan: 5781

This month is set to be a time of rewards and rebukes from the individual to the national level. Big shakings are coming to the nations that will be a wake-up call for all who have been purposefully sleeping. It is a month of incredible transition from trials into the promise of Adonai and as we enter, we must remember what the Israelite’s last trial was before entering Sinai. The battle with the Amalekites was the last obstacle before Shavuot (Pentecost), an obstacle where they had to put themselves in physical danger and trust Adonai would not only fight their battle but do it through them. If the previous month has been that month of trials and hardship, it is time to enter to Sivan in the victory of Adonai, giving all glory and honor to the Most High. You made it, and Elohim is preparing us for even greater promises just around the corner.

Biblical Calendar Alignment

Now, we are seeing the Biblical times and seasons align with the current situation in Israel and around the world. Just before entering into Sivan, on Yom Yerushalayim of all days which commemorates Israel’s capture of Jerusalem in the 6-day war, there were fires on the Temple Mount, massive unrest in Jerusalem, rockets being fired en masse from the Gaza strip targeting Jerusalem and other cities while Israeli fighter jets retaliated. At the same exact time that the Israelites and Amalek fought one another, the Israelites and those who identify as Palestinians fight one another now, one seen as a trespasser by the other, and the other who argues this land was given to them by God. Coincidence? We can make a good argument for both, but that is not the solution and never will be.

We are no longer in the age when God’s people are being called to fight battles like they once did, though wars still rage, but in this age of grace, we have been told directly from the mouth of Yeshua Ha’Mashiach that our battle is a different one. Do unrighteous things happen to us and to people around us? Of course, and this should be no small matter to us, and we should stand up for them and what is right every time, but does that change who we pray for and how we pray for them? Do we pray for the person being wronged and the wrongdoer? “For He makes His sun rise on those who are evil and on those who are good, and makes the rain fall on the righteous and the unrighteous. For if you love [only] those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do that? And if you greet only your brothers, what more [than others] are you doing? Do not even the Gentiles [who do not know Adonai] do that?” (Matthew 5:45). The battle is very real, but we have to know how Yeshua told us to fight it to win it. The devil can’t beat that. Never has, and never will.

Zebulun is the tribe associated with Sivan and comes right off the heals of Issachar which was represented last month. Interestingly, we cannot speak about Zebulun without speaking also about the sons of Issachar as the two come as a package in Scripture. Although they were completely different in their individual callings and the work they did, they worked together for the glory of Adonai. When Jacob prophesied over the tribes before his death he prophesied over Zebulun and Issachar together in Deuteronomy 33:18-19. “Of Zebulun he said, “Rejoice, Zebulun, in your interests abroad, and, Issachar, in your tents [at home]. “They will call the peoples to the mountain (Mount Carmel); There they will offer sacrifices of righteousness; For they will draw out the abundance of the seas, and the hidden treasures of the sand.” They had a mutually beneficial relationship with Issachar giving knowledge and wisdom regarding the times and seasons, and what Israel should do while Zebulun with their wealth supported Issachar and the Levites.

So let’s put ourselves in the shoes of Zebulun right now in this moment of time in the world as a merchant, a trader, and a businessman having a conversation with Issachar who is by no means a businessman but can tell you when it’s going to rain and how you should prepare. After looking at the global economy and where it is headed, they saw at the beginning of this new month of Sivan the stock market taking a continuous hit due to fears of inflation which was only confirmed by the Bank of America forecasting on May 3rd that there is “transitory hyperinflation ahead”, along with all of the major global powers openly preparing for a Global Economic Reset, they came to the conclusion that we might need to prepare for such an inevitability ourselves to make sure we are not only in a position to ride out the storm, and help others prepare, but also have the opportunity to prosper, knowing what is coming. Issachar then reminded Zebulun, “Don’t forget the Shmita Year”, when all debts are canceled (Market Crash) is beginning on September 6th, 2021, and America hasn’t missed a Shmita crash/debt cancelation since 1966. A Reminder, A Warning, And A Win

Three world-changing events were remembered, prophesied, and executed in the month of Sivan that has an eerily similar tone to today. In Ezekiel 31 on the first day of the third month, the Word of Adonai came to Ezekiel, to Egypt saying in short, look how I just utterly destroyed Assyria the greatest empire like it was nothing and get ready I’m going to do the same to you. Throughout the chapter, the reminder to Egypt is about how Adonai stopped trade into the Empire completely and dried up all of its resources causing all of its allies to leave while others invaded. Throughout history, we have seen not only how nations can fall rapidly from fame, fortune, and prosperity to the opposite, but also how the global economy can as well. Perhaps what we are hearing through Scripture is, Adonai has humbled prideful nations before, and what makes us think He won’t do it again? Now, that’s pretty depressing and there is a multitude of meanings behind it from personal to global, but let’s concentrate on something a little more positive now.

On the 23rd day of Sivan during the time of Israel’s exile in Babylon the decree Mordechai had written to negate Haman’s evil decree was sent from India to Ethiopia, to 127 provinces, to every province according to its script, and to every people according to their language as well as to the Jews according to their script and their language. The Jewish people decided that instead of believing the evil decree of Haman, they would do what the King of kings was always trying to get them and us to do throughout the Bible, to turn our faces back to him and away from the world. The Jewish people in Babylon remembered the past as a warning of what not to do and were not about to make the same mistake again lest they suffer the same fate. Let us heed the warnings of Adonai this month, and, turn our faces towards Him like the 120 in the Upper Room, and be empowered to bring hope and salvation to the ends of the earth and back to Jerusalem.

Theomim (The Twins)

Just as Zebulun relied on Issachar to understand the times and seasons, Issachar would have known by looking at the stars that the constellation this month is Theomim (The Twins). The twins tell of many things that have happened before and will happen to a greater extent now. One such thing is a reminder of the two tablets on which YHWH wrote the ten commandments, which will be celebrated starting the night of May 16th along with the receiving of the Holy Spirit in the Upper Room in Jerusalem! While the first tablet had instructions regarding honoring God and our parents, the other tablet was in regards to what not to do to the people around us. Two different sets of instructions, but they only work when they are together just like the oneness of the 120 men and women in the upper room. Two people from one flesh with different gifts and talents that share a common bond like Zebulun and Issachar are far stronger together than apart. This is true of every believer.

Many people, one body, one Bride knit together by one Holy Spirit. We are all unique and wonderfully made, yet all saved and unified by the same blood of Yeshua and the gift of the Holy Spirit. It is the picture of husband and wife, two becoming one flesh. It is the story of Ruth and Naomi, a Jew, and a gentile who became grafted in. It is Joshua and Caleb who gave the good report, David and Jonathan, Paul and Silas, the two witnesses, always two by two. It is the perfect picture of the Malachi 4:5-6 generation the fathers and sons working together as one. For where two or three are gathered in My name [meeting together as My followers], I am there among them. Why don’t we go walk in twos and threes as the Holy Spirit leads with the King of kings and behold the divine appointments Elohim conceives? That’s what Yeshua told them to do, so doesn’t that mean it applies to us too?

We are finally coming to the end of the 49 days of the Counting of the Omer which began the day after Pesach (Passover), and will culminate in the celebration of Shavuot on the 50th day beginning the night of May 16th marking the day Israel received the Torah on Mount Sinai and when The Body of Messiah received the Ruah Ha’Chodesh in Jerusalem. It is a far cry from Last year’s Shavuot celebrations during the lockdown, and now in many places around the world, instead of deafening silence, the volume has been put on full blast. Leaders of nations and world organizations we are supposed to trust continuously contradict themselves, unrest, violence, and depression runs rampant as citizens protest lockdowns, joblessness, homelessness, etc. The world economy is going through loops on a roller coaster with everyone wondering when it will stop. While our heads are in the sand arguing about mask or no mask, vaccine or no vaccine, and doing our best to make sure there is food on the table for our families, the powers that be are giddy at the prospect of re-shaping the world in their image, and they believe they are doing so. Iyar was a month of trials, but now in Sivan, this is our opportunity to come together before YHWH and throw off once and for all the yoke and mindset of slavery that He has been teaching us since Pesach (Passover) is not our identity. This month is the month to come out of hiding as the disciples did, wasting no time after receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit, “and on that day about 3,000 souls were added [to the body of believers]. They were continually and faithfully devoting themselves to the instruction of the apostles, and to fellowship, to eating meals together and to prayers” (Acts 2:41-42). The Holy Spirit is telling us what time it is, so let’s work together like we are meant to and refuse to waste any more time. In the mighty Name of Yeshua, let’s go bring the Gospel in perfect love and power so that so many people get saved that the angels will have to throw a non-stop party until our Lord and Savior returns. Adonai bless you and keep you!
